Education Horizons Group has continued to deliver on its promise of helping schools succeed, donating $2,500 to School for Life’s emergency appeal to support vulnerable Ugandan communities affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

The donation is the latest in Education Horizons Groups’ four-year partnership with School for Life, which includes a $10,000 contribution in 2019 and continued free provision of the Group’s SEQTA and SchoolPRO education software products.

More than $160,000 has now been raised through School for Life’s appeal, funding the ongoing provision and delivery of learning packs, food supplies and hygiene kits to students and their families. School for Life Director of Philanthropy & Partnerships, Sani Dowa, said the funds raised have been critical in supporting learners affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

“The impact of COVID-19 is exacerbated by the fact that the children don’t have the option of online learning” Sani said. “Being at home, a lot of children end up diverted to other tasks, especially girls who are the primary source of domestic labour. The funds raised from our appeal allow us to ensure a level of education continuity for learners.”

In a recent video, School for Life CEO and Founding Director, Annabelle Chauncy OAM, outlined the community-wide impact the organisation has been able to make through the support of its appeal.

“We’ve been able to set up hand washing stations in five of our surrounding communities” Annabelle said. We’ve also been able to provide 500 hygiene and sanitation kits, and we’ve also provided all of our families with a month’s food supply at home.
Thank you so much for your support and for walking with us to ensure that no child is left behind.”
